Just before Sōma starts his high school years, Jōichirō makes a surprising announcement. However, by the beginning of the story, he has lost to him 489 times. Sōma strives to surpass his father one day in cooking. It is here we meet Sōma Yukihira, the young son of the restaurant's owner, Jōichirō Yukihira, who trained him in his own original cooking style, the Yukihira Style. There are four factions available, although developers have announced the creation of more factions in the following releases - with the houses of Harkonnen and Atreides among them. Although maps are procedurally generated, there are key features directly lifted from the book. This carefully crafted world also affects gameplay since it creates natural barriers and passageways that could help define your strategy. Despite the scale, this keeps the game immersive. This feature works since it allows you to appreciate and explore Arrakis - an incredibly detailed desert world with a variety of biomes still tied to the overall environment. However, players have the option to pause and fast-forward in-game events. It is important to note that Dune: Spice is not entirely real-time since it has slow pacing by default.
